Calloway County Fire & Rescue and Calloway County Office of Emergency Management responded to the Almo community after a report of flood waters rising and possibly getting inside houses Saturday night.
Multiple agencies, including swift water team members, responded to the area and began knocking on doors to notify residents of the recommended evacuation order for safety. Upon attempting to get to a house on Main Street & 5th Street, the flood waters were almost to the headlights of the truck before it backed out.
CCFR then sent in a swift water rescue boat to get to a residence where someone could be heard calling for help. The homeowner and his dog were rescued from the home without incident. The affected areas include Main Street, 1st Street, 2nd Street, 3rd Street and 5th Street areas as well as all around the Clarks River Bridge area on Almo Road. Floodwaters were about waist high.
Calloway County Emergency Management Director Josh Kerr advised they were opening the warming center at the Vfw Post Murray for anyone displaced from their homes due to flooding or anyone needing a place to go.
