Theatre Arts Teacher Wendy Breedlove said, “Cinderella is going to be a magical musical. The cast and crew have worked very hard to bring this show to life. People attending are encouraged to wear their Royal attire!”
Pricing is Adult: $12.00; Senior 65+: $10.00; Student: $10.00
In the weeks leading to the opening of the play, Breedlove and her students will be rehearsing and working on the set. On the day this photo was taken, she worked alongside Sophomore Caden Andrews, who is not a theatre arts student but a student in John Harrison’s Construction II class. Andrews is also working on the set, sawdust falling on the floor as he cuts boards to assist Breedlove in transforming the stage into a fairytale experience.
As pictured, the two are discussing how to best construct the set to make sure the audience can see the set and the actors from stage right, center, and left. The two talk about angles, where to put hinges so everything opens just right, and how it will best tell the story.
The partnership between the Fine Arts Department and the Career Technical Education (CTE) Department is a perfect example of how teachers collaborate to provide students with firsthand experience in a real-world setting.
Breedlove has been the theatre arts teacher at HCHS for four years and received her bachelor’s degree in Theatre Arts from Union University. She is also the Student Ambassador sponsor and helps students with events such as the upcoming basketball homecoming program on February 14 at Gamlin Gym. The public is invited.
