Henry County native Dr. Bobby Jones will be honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award this weekend at the Grammy Awards.
Born in tiny Henry, Tennessee, Dr. Jones attended a one-room schoolhouse, he went on to host the long-running Bobby Jones Gospel program on BET and has won Grammy and Dove Awards and is known for showcasing gospel artists in his radio and television programs.
Jones said, “I am simply overwhelmed, surprised and appreciative! To be recognized by the world’s biggest platform for the work that we’ve done by presenting gospel music through television for over 35 years, must be important. I’m grateful to all of those who contributed to my platform and thank them all for being a part and helping me to become………Dr. Bobby Jones”.
In his home county, Dr. Jones was honored by the State of Tennessee with a new ‘Tennessee Music Pathways’ marker in downtown Paris in 2020.
Dr. Jones now lives in Nashville and has returned home to Paris on numerous occasions for appearances and honors.
