Puryear, Tenn.–It was a big day at Southern Fried & Sweet Tea in Puryear as the crew from Tennessee Crossroads arrived to film an episode of their television show there.
Or as Crossroads Producer Miranda Cohen put it, “We’re spilling the Sweet Tea on Tennessee Crossroads And you better believe it is AMAZING!”
Southern Fried and Sweet Tea hasn’t been open that long in Puryear, but in that short time has made quite an impression, bringing people from near and far to sample their great food.
Cohen told us after their visit, “What an incredibly wonderful place. It is a great honor to highlight wonderful places like Southern Fried and Sweet Tea and what an incredible love story they have.”
Tennessee Crossroads has been on the air 38 years and is the highest rated locally produced program throughout the PBS system. Tennessee Crossroads also featured Sally Lane’s Candy Farm in Paris a few years ago.
Cohen said the program featuring Southern Fried & Sweet Tea should air in about six weeks. “We want everyone to travel with us to Southern Fried & Sweet Tea Puryear and learn the beautiful love story behind their delicious dishes. This family puts so much love into everything they serve. What an honor to meet them.
“Tennessee Crossroads came and filmed an episode with us! Such great people, we can’t wait to see it!”, restaurant owners said.
The restaurant is located at 77 W. Main St., in Puryear, where Laird’s BBQ was located for years. The restaurant features a solid menu, with country fried chicken, tenderloin, pork chops, catfish, a variety of burgers, shrimp and more, including a customer favorite–Twisted Hoppin’ John.
The restaurant has a Facebook page and features photos of what’s on the menu every day–check it out!
