lbl-aa-history

February is African-American History Month and the Land Between The Lakes is holding two separate free programs to celebrate the month. Both will be held at the Golden Pond Planetarium.

At 5 p.m. February 7, Guest Speaker Chris Thornock, Heritage Program Manager with the U.S. Forestry Service, will talk about the history of African-American communities, both slave and free, within the LBL. His talk is called, “African-American Lives and Landscapes”.

At 5 p.m. February 22, there will be a screening of “A Legacy Lost and Found: Segregation in Recreation”, a history of Cherokee Lake State Park.
