William Loyd Payton Salmon

William Loyd Payton Salmon, 64, of Puryear, Tennessee, died Saturday, April 20, 2024, at his residence.

Loyd was born Wednesday, November 25, 1959, in Murray, Kentucky, to the late Warren Salmon and the late Clarice May “Julia” Nance Salmon.

He retired from the Tennessee Department of Transportation as a heavy equipment operator and was the owner of Loyd’s Mowing Service.

He was a U.S. Army veteran and a Mason of Lodge #772 of Buchanan, Tennessee.

Loyd loved cooking the hushpuppies at the fish tent for the World’s Biggest Fish Fry.

He enjoyed fishing, riding his motorcycle, and spending time with his family.

He was a member of Puryear Baptist Church.

He was married Saturday, April 24, 1982, to Marion Myrick “Sissy” Salmon, who survives, of Puryear, Tennessee.

Along with his wife, he is also survived by one daughter: Amanda (Jay) Lane, of Buchanan, Tennessee; one son: Shawn Salmon, of Puryear, Tennessee; one brother: Shayne Salmon, of Trezevant, Tennessee; two grandchildren: Michael Lane and Teriana Lane; and one aunt: Linda Taylor of Puryear, Tennessee.

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap Street/PO Box 788, Paris, Tennessee, 38242.

Visitation will be Tuesday, April 23, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at Puryear Baptist Church, 10060 Hwy 641 N, Puryear, Tennessee, 38251, with the funeral service beginning at 12:00 p.m. at Puryear Baptist Church with Chad Kennedy and Larry Simmons officiating.

Cremation will follow the service.
