Paris, Tenn.–It was an emotional moment as Rita Gean was sworn in as her late husband’s replacement as District 1 Commissioner at the Henry County Commission meeting Monday night. Rita always accompanied her husband to all the county commission meetings and she was the unanimous choice by the commissioners to fill his unexpired term. Rita received a standing ovation as she was sworn in by County Clerk Donna Craig. Rita was surrounded by her family, daughter Jinny and grandkids Devin and Aubrie. Devin held the Bible that Randy used as a Deacon at Mt. Sinai Church in Buchanan. Candidates for the position at the August election will be David Flowers and Ted Kernn, both of whom are running as Independents. (Shannon McFarlin photo).
