Sammy To Be Back For Paris Academy Benefit Concert Saturday

sammy-in-concert-2

Paris, Tenn.–Entertainer Sammy Goldstein will be returning to his hometown to perform a fundraising concert at the Paris Academy for the Arts, Saturday, April 20

Known for his vast repertoire of songs and audience interaction, Goldstein has a special evening planned for the cabaret-style performance at the Academy’s Ray Harding Lunchroom. Featuring a variety of music spanning 50 years, the show will include some Broadway tunes, Gershwin and Cole Porter classics–even some 1970’s pop, interlaced with some Goldstein-style comedy, of course.

“Among many things,” says Goldstein, “it will be light-hearted and fun.”

With only 100 tickets available for sale, the setting for the limited-seating venue could not be more appropriate. “It’s a special place. I love performing at the school and the intimacy of its smaller setting,” says Goldstein. “I feel a closer connection with the audience, and the audience engagement always makes it a truly unique experience.”

Proceeds from the concert will directly benefit the Paris Academy Association with building restoration expenses and continued development of arts classes and related programs. The Academy offers classes in pottery, weaving, visual and performing arts, music, dance, quilting and sewing, among others.

Maintenance and restoration projects are never-ending for the historic building, long-known to the community as Lee School.

“We are grateful to Sammy and our sponsors,” says Suzanne Richter. “The building is a community landmark, and the support of our sponsors and the community helps us continue our mission of maintaining the building and supporting the Arts in our community.”

Event sponsors: Ray & Noragene Harding, Carroll Bank & Trust, RE/MAX Cornerstone Real Estate- Bob & Julie Leach, Silverwood Cabinetry, Cowart Reese Sargent, CPAs, Drs. Coleman and Townsend, John T. VanDyck III, MD, Shesin Eigan, and White and Associates Wimberley Dyer Agency.

The concert is at 7 p.m., Saturday, April 20, with a reception to follow.

Tickets are $25 and can be purchased at Lura Lee’s, The Iron Place and Paris Academy for the Arts in person and online.
