For over a decade, the Martin Police Department has been offering rides on the Safety Bus on New Year’s Eve. They are provided for people who needs a ride and doesn’t need to be getting behind the wheel of a car.
Martin Assistant Police Chief Phillip Fuqua said, “For several years now, we operate a safety bus where anyone who needs a ride to and from somewhere during the New Year’s Eve celebration, they can contact our dispatch center and the safety bus picks them up and carries them to wherever they need.”
Fuqua said that safety bus has always been a very popular mode of transportation for Martin partygoers, noting that the service usually supplies rides to 100 to 150 people.
