Quentin “Sonny” Wilson, Jr.

Quentin “Sonny” Wilson, Jr., 82, of Paris, Tennessee, died Tuesday, December 26, 2023, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital in Jackson, Tennessee.

Sonny was born Wednesday, March 5, 1941, in Camden, Tennessee, to the late Quentin K. Wilson, Sr., and the late Montana McBride Wilson.

Sonny loved his growing-up years in Big Sandy, Tennessee, especially the time in Wilson’s Grocery. He enjoyed talking about anything relative to Big Sandy, especially discussing the trains pulled by steam engines that came through the town.  His favorite pastime was listening to bluegrass music and bluegrass gospel.

He was a 1959 graduate of Big Sandy High School and attended Lambuth College in Jackson, Tennessee, two years before transferring to Southern Academy of Clinical Technology in Nashville, Tennessee.

He worked in the medical field for over 49 years. Sonny was a medical technologist and a registered X-ray technician. He served as a licensed medical technology supervisor, an account representative for medical supply & equipment companies, and as director of purchasing & materials management.

He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Paris.

He was married Friday, June 18, 1971, to Marie Williams Wilson, who survives, of Paris, Tennessee.

Along with his wife, he is also survived by one daughter: Lisa (Richard) Dabbs, of Hattiesburg, Mississippi; David Wilson, of New Albany, Mississippi, and Brad Wilson, of Knoxville, Tennessee; two sisters: Beverly Miller, of McKenzie, Tennessee, and Kathy (Tony) DiVito, of Paris, Tennessee; six grandchildren: Zach (Laura) Tindall, Tyler Tindall, Brandon Wilson, Megan Elizabeth (Joseph) Rangel, Cassady Wilson, and Nicholas Wilson; and one niece: Anna DiVito, of Paris, Tennessee; and two nephews: Carlo DiVito and Mark DiVito.

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St, Paris, Tennessee.

A graveside service will be held Thursday, December 28, 2023, at Memorial Cemetery in Paris, Tennessee, with Bro. Glynn Orr officiating.

Serving as pallbearers will be: Tony DiVito, Carlo DiVito, Mark DiVito, Jeran Hudson, Danny Williams, and John Bowers.

Burial will follow the graveside service in Memorial Cemetery.
