
Priestly Scott, age 95, of Benton, KY formerly of Puryear, TN passed away on Thursday, April 17, 2025 at The Stilley House Senior Living in Benton. His funeral service will be 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, April 22, 2025 at McEvoy Funeral Home, conducted by Bro. Lance Cordle of Atwood Church of Christ and Bro. Jared Green of Calvert City Church of Christ. Burial will follow the service in the Scott Family Cemetery located in Puryear. Named as Pallbearers are Chris Chilcutt, Joey Hampton, Jeramy Rich, Chad Garland, Mark Scott, Robert Chilcutt, and Blayne Scott; Honorary pallbearers will be grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Visitation with the family will be Monday, April 21, 2025 from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. and again on Tuesday after 10:00 A.M. until time of service.
Robert Priestly Scott was born August 20, 1929 in Carroll County, TN to the late Robert J. Scott and the late Flossie V. Dill Scott. He married Margie Parish Scott on April 7, 1950 and she preceded him in death on September 22, 2012. Priestly is survived by his daughter, Sandra J. (William) Smith of Calvert City, KY; sons, Joe D. Scott of Murray, KY and Mark (Elizabeth) Scott of Buchanan, TN; grandchildren, Christy Garland, Stacy Janusz, Tracy Suits, Robert Glen Barnett, Sarah Hampton, Chris Chilcutt, and Blayne Scott; great-grandchildren; Philicady and Emily Garland; Jackson, Quinton, and Sylvie Suits; Jacob, Tyler, and Wyatt Young; Anna and Will Hampton; Walker Priestly Chilcutt and Naomi Chilcutt; Camilla and Henry Barnett; son-in-law, Robert Chilcutt of Dover, TN; also by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends.
Besides his parents and wife, Priestly was also preceded in death by his daughter, Charlotte Scott Chilcutt; sisters, Erin Crider and Lucille Peterson; and by brothers, Arvil, Onice, and J.C. Scott.
Mr. Scott was a Church of Christ minister for over 70 years. Upon his arrival to Stilley House his goal was to preach and have Bible study with his fellow residents, which he accomplished and also led the singing. Priestly’s hobbies included gardening, building and wood working. He was known to be a family man who dearly loved his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The family wishes to extend a very heartfelt thanks to Priestly’s private nurses, Cindy Redden, Jeanie Stamper, Kari Techaira, Sandy Goatley, Wendy Cobb, Jennifer Enoch, Cathy Vowell, Susan Carrico, and Christy Prince. They also wish a special thank you to all the Stilley House staff for making their daddy’s transition to his new home a true community for him to reside in for two and a half years.
