Dover, Tenn.–A Stewart County Sheriff’s deputy is credited for saving a man’s life when he arrived at a house fire Wednesday afternoon.
At approximately 1 pm, Deputy Johnny Law responded to a house fire on Long Creek Road. When Deputy Law arrived he found that the homeowner had attempted to enter the residence by breaking out a window. In doing so the man had cut his right arm. The man had several burns and cut an artery and causing significant blood loss.
Deputy Law quickly applied a tourniquet (which all deputies carry) to reduce the blood loss and made the man comfortable until EMS arrived. The victim was transported by EMS, was then flown to Vanderbilt by Life Flight.
The Sheriff’s Office was contacted later by Vanderbilt Medical Personnel who advised that the action of Deputy Law had saved the man’s life. Sheriff Frankie Gray said, “We want to say GREAT job to Deputy Johnny Law for his quick actions and using his Law Enforcement and Military Training to save a life. Thank you for serving Stewart County!!”
