Paris, Tenn.–The new Henry County Veterans Services Officer is Tony Lacy, who is familiar to many county residents. He is a retired Lt. Col. with the Tennessee National Guard and was commander of the Paris-based Company C of the 46th Engineer Battalion during its 2002 deployment to Iraq and Kuwait. He has appeared at several local Veterans’ Day programs.
Henry County Mayor Randy Geiger said Lacy was one of 13 applicants for the position.
Lacy is currently the JRROTC Instructor at Dyersburg High School and with the next certification class for Veterans Services Officers not held until July, he won’t be able to begin his local duties until then.
Geiger said in the meantime, Alex Jones of the Haywood County Veterans Services program, will be coming to Henry County once a week to see veterans. Jones will be here on Thursdays and veterans can make appointments by calling the office at 731 642 5055. The office is located in the basement of the courthouse.
Lacy replaces Jon Bolding in the position.
Geiger said he is “very excited” about having Lacy as the new officer.
