Paris, TN Henry County was affected by a significant severe weather event on April 5, 2025, beginning with early morning tornado watch and warnings. At approximately 5:20 AM CDT, strong straight-line winds caused damage along Pleasant Hill Road, destroying a barn and causing minor damage to four homes. Thankfully, no injuries were reported.
Responding agencies to Pleasant Hill Rd incident included the Henry County Sheriff’s Department, Mansfield Fire Department, and Paris Board of Public Utilities (BPU). Multiple trees were downed in the morning and throughout the day.
After 2 PM, heavy rainfall triggered widespread flash flooding, impacting numerous roadways across the county. Power outages were reported, but Paris BPU crews responded quickly to restore service. As of 5 PM, all customers had power restored.
County first responders, public works, and highway crews worked throughout the day working to clear downed trees and close flooded roads. The Henry County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) urges residents not to call 911 to report water over roadways. Todays event finally concluded a four day severe weather multi-day event that has brought all modes of severe weather and has left county residents and emergency responders a little weather fatigued. Wednesdays evening severe weather triggered 4 different tornado warnings into the early hours of Thursday morning.
The county received an unofficial estimate of 9.38 inches of rain over the past seven days with almost 5 inches Friday.
Henry County will continue to receive moderate to light rain for the remainder of the evening finally tapering off as the front finally moves past.
The tornado watch issued earlier till 7PM has been canceled with the threat of severe weather moving east. The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood advisory in effect until further notice.
