calloway-co-sandbags

Calloway County, Ky.–The Calloway County Fire & Rescue is preparing for the upcoming severe weather moving into our area today. Current weather forecasts are calling for around 10″-15″ of rain over the next 2-3 days which, if accurate, could create some dangerous flooding situations in the county.
Starting at 9:00am today (4/2/25) the Calloway County Road Department will have sandbags available for the public to pickup. You can pick them up at 105 East Sycamore Street, Murray, KY 42071 in the back parking lot, next door to our headquarters.
Calloway County Office of Emergency Management has also announced that the Calloway County Courthouse Annex, located at 201 South 4th Street, Murray, KY 42071, will open today (4/2/25) at 3:00pm to serve as a community wide storm shelter for anyone who needs somewhere to go. Pets will be allowed on a leash or crated, pet owners are responsible for all cleanup and care for their pets while using the storm shelter. Monitor our social media page, as well as the Calloway County Emergency Management page for other churches/organizations who may decide to open as a storm shelter as well; we will try to share these as we find out about them.
