
Murray, Ky.–A Murray man was arrested on charges of possession, along with tampering with evidence and resisting arrest at jail.
On March 29, 2025, around 10 pm, Calloway County deputies initiated a traffic stop on N 12th St. at Octane Dr. The Marshall County Sheriff’s Office K-9 assisted in conducting an open-air sniff of the vehicle, which resulted in the K-9 alerting to the presence of illegal drugs.
A small quantity of drugs was found inside the vehicle, and the passenger, Chad Smith, was discovered to be in possession of 3.8 grams of methamphetamine. Smith was arrested and taken to the Calloway County Detention Facility.
While at the jail, it was reported that Smith tried to destroy or hide methamphetamine that he had concealed on his person within the secure area. During a subsequent search, he attempted to dispose of another bag of meth and resisted being placed in handcuffs.
