Paris, Tenn.–The ‘Henri’ sculpture was officially welcomed to Paris today with a ribbon-cutting and a large crowd was on hand. Paris Mayor Kathy Ray said downtown Paris beautification is in full speed mode, with 30 murals, 25 painted catfish, as well as painted dumpsters put in place since 2015. She welcomed representatives of other communities today to see what is happening here and said Paris leads others in community arts. “We’re known for our artwork and other communities ask us, ‘How do you do this? ‘Henri, she said, represents all of us and he is golden because Paris is a golden community. The sculpture was created by Dan Knowles and his apprentice Sarah Cendejas. The ribbon-cutting was organized by the Paris-Henry County Chamber of Commerce. The sculpture is in the Downtown Plaza near the fountain. Shannon McFarlin photo.
