
Harold B. “Chunky” Jackson, Jr., age 90, of Paris passed away on Thursday, March 20, 2025. His funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time but will be announced later by McEvoy.
Chunky was born January 15, 1935 in Springville, Tennessee to the late Harold B. Jackson, Sr. and the late Verla Gray Jackson. He married Margaret Brockwell Jackson on December 25, 1954 and she preceded him in death February 2, 2025. He is survived by his son, Hal Jackson of Paris; grandson, Curtis (Sue) Jackson of Paris; great-granddaughter, Katie Mae Jackson; sisters, Cynthia Lee Perry, Deborah J. Malatesta, and Melanie J. Stockdale; and brothers, James Frazier “Bill” Jackson and Clifton Gray Jackson.
Besides his parents and loving wife, Chunky is also preceded in death by his daughter, Stephanie Jackson (prec. January 24, 2024); and by sisters, Diana Gray Roach and Caroline J. Brannon.
Chunky grew up on the family farm, graduated with the Class of 1953 at Grove High School and then served in the United States Navy for 23 years. He served aboard the USS Saratoga, saw two years’ service in Vietnam and retired in 1975 as a Chief Warrant Officer. After military retirement, he worked for American Heart Association and B&G Tractor. With Margaret, they were very active in the Paris Lions Club where he rose to the position of District Governor. In later years, they spent their time camping, enjoying family and their Yorkshire Terrier, Jake.
