Paris, TN – The Paris Police Department has announced an important change to the parking policy for the upcoming World’s Biggest Fish Fry Grand Parade. Effective immediately, vehicles will no longer be allowed to park in the travel lane on the south side of the parade route.
The Fish Fry is always held the last full week of April and this year the parade will be held Friday morning, April 25.
Police Chief Ricky Watson said, “We understand this may be disappointing to many in our community, but we want to assure you that this decision was not made lightly. The safety of our citizens is our top priority. This new restriction is being implemented in response to increasing concerns worldwide about vehicle-borne attacks at public events, as well as prior incidents involving vehicle crashes.”
The precautionary measure aims to create a safer environment for everyone attending the parade, especially as large crowds gather along the route, he said. “While we know that this change may cause some inconvenience, we believe it is necessary to ensure the safety of all participants and spectators.”
The Paris Police Department will be patrolling the parade route before the event. Any vehicles parked in violation of this policy will be towed at the owner’s expense. Watson said, “We encourage all citizens to plan ahead and make alternative parking arrangements.
“We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we take these important steps to safeguard our community. We look forward to celebrating this tradition with you all, and we remain committed to making the parade a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone.”
