She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Elroy Hill, whom she married on April 29, 1962. They celebrated 49 years of marriage together. Retia dedicated much of her life to serving others, working in various roles throughout her career. She served at Clark’s Office Supply, Henry County Chancery Court, worked alongside Elroy at Hill’s Electric, and retired from Paris Henry County Public Utility District. A devout Christian, she was a faithful member of Maplewood Baptist Church, the Homemaker’s Sunday School Class, and the church choir. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, and she was a source of encouragement and inspiration to everyone who knew her.
Known for her selflessness, Retia always put the needs of others before her own. She had a remarkable love for her family and friends, and her kindness and generosity touched countless lives. In her spare time, she enjoyed boat rides, grilling while overlooking the lake, and working in her garden. But what brought her the most joy was watching her grandson, Andrew, play sports—she never missed a game and was always his biggest supporter.
Retia’s legacy of love, devotion, and service will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her warm heart, sweet and funny disposition, and unwavering commitment to her family and faith will never be forgotten. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered with love.
