Kentucky State Police Busy With Emergency Calls

ksp-roads

Since the morning of February 15, Kentucky State Police telecommunicators have answered 12,508 calls for service. KSP personnel continue to assist with water rescues and welfare checks in the affected areas. KSP is not currently working on any missing persons cases due to recent adverse weather.
Yesterday, while conducting search and rescue flights, the KSP Aircraft Branch located a dock connected to 15 boats that had broken away and washed down the Kentucky River (Mercer County). The flight crew coordinated with first responders on the ground to identify and secure the dock before it collided with a bridge.
KSP pilots flew FEMA officials over flood-damaged areas in Eastern Kentucky so they could document the damage for potential disaster declaration.
Since the onset of winter weather at approximately 8:00 PM last night (02/18/2025), KSP has responded to 59 non-injury crashes, 3 injury crashes, and 69 motorist assists.
Last night, KSP responded to a crash on I-24 in Lyon County, where a commercial vehicle ran into the back of a KYTC snowplow. We are asking motorists to slow down and leave plenty of space for snowplows to work.
KSP troopers, officers, and civilian staff continue to work countless hours to safeguard Kentuckians
