Paris, Tenn.–Residents of the city of Paris should have received letters in the mail Wednesday notifying them of a change in policy regarding operation of the sanitation department in the city’s alleys.
According to the letter, due to the increase in size of the city’s equipment and a narrowing of the city alleys due to fencing, landscaping, outbuilding, etc., “we will no longer be able to provide services in our alleys”.
As the city grows and residents make improvements to their properties, according to Public Works Director Chris Moseley, “our alleys have narrowed causing difficulties for our street department employees. Property damage has occurred as our large trucks attempt to navigate these small spaces. For this reason, it has been decided that we will no longer be able to provide services in any of our alleys.”
Residents are asked to begin taking their trash and any other items you have contacted the city to be picked up, to the street, leaving it behind the sidewalk so as not to block the street or sidewalk. As of Monday, March 3, the city will no longer collect anything left in an alley.
Moseley said the city apologizes for any inconvenience. Anyone with a hardship that prevents them from complying with request may call Public Works at 731 642 0473.
