Paris, Tenn.- “The energy is always there. You can feel the rivalry!” Patriot Colby Stallings set the scene for Thursday’s Henry County High School’s basketball game against Dickson County at Gamlin Gym. Much like the long lasting football rivalry between the two schools, Patriot basketball also is ready for the big game.
Coach Wes Miller is looking for a big crowd at Thursday’s game. “Dickson County is a big game for us. They’re a talented team and it will be a test for us.”
Miller believes the spirit of competitiveness between the two teams is a great motivator for his players. “If you don’t have a rival, it’s not as fun to play.” After the district win last night over Kenwood, Miller said his players immediately shifted to the next game.
“This team is about the kids; I just lead it. The focus needs to be on our student athletes.” He added that if there is a loss, the focus needs to be on him and not tearing down kids.
