Paris, Tenn.–At its Tuesday meeting, the Paris Utility Authority board approved a professional services agreement with EN Engineering to perform engineering services for the upcoming fiber project. Board of Public Utilities CEO Terry Wimberley said EN Engineering has worked with other Tennessee municipal utilities on similar projects.
In January, the board formalized an agreement with TEC to build a state-of-the-art fiber network.
The agreement defines the terms of the services to be provided and covers the expectations and responsibilities of both parties. The total estimate to complete the design is $1,847,033 with all additional costs or services requiring prior approval by Paris BPU. The estimated total for engineering services outlined in the agreement with TEC is $1,950,000.
In other business, the board approved amendments to retirement plan documents and approved the quarterly write-off of delinquent accounts.
In his report to the board, Wimberley shared that both TVA and Paris BPU electric grids performed well during the cold weather stretch in January. During the event, TVA set an all-time peak for power demand. Paris BPU peaked at 123.6 MW, short of the all-time peak of 134.2 MW set last January. Wimberley also followed up on the materials quotes for the 69kV transmission line which the board previously authorized him to purchase.
