HCHS Swimmers Compete In Championship Tourney

hchs-swim-team-better

On Friday Jan 24th, six swimmers from HCHS competed at the Middle Tennessee High School Swim Championship in Nashville. There were 75 schools represented and hundreds of swimmers who had made a qualifying time. Once again HCHS was the overwhelming underdog competing against club swimmers from Nashville’s public and private schools. HCHS Team Captains Owen Stevens and Audrey Hill led the team into the Aquatic Center. Each swimmer gave their best effort in every event they had qualified for. Kyleigh Miller, Emma Grace Dotson, Olivia Hart, and Sabriel McCool all had their best times in the races they entered. The highlight of the meet was the Girls 200 Free Relay ( Emma Grace Dotson, Kyleigh Miller, Audrey Hill, and Olivia Hart) finished 8th in the Region. This was the best finish for HCHS ever at the Region Meet With one of the smallest teams ( many teams had 20-40 swimmers ), HCHS made a big splash finishing 20th out of 75 teams in the Region. This was the final meet for three of our seniors, Owen, Emma Grace, and Kyleigh They have put a lot of time over the years working hard to represent their school and community. Audrey and Olivia will now move on to the State Championship in two weeks at UT Knoxville. Thanks you to everyone who has supported us, HCHS staff, the community, and our sponsors.
