Buchanan, Tenn.–The Paris Landing Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched on two fires this morning–one a structure fire and the other a grass fire. No one was injured in either one.

According to Chief Reggie Coles, at 1130 AM this morning the Fire Department was dispatched to 6575 Buchanan Road for a report of a structure fire.  Arriving units found a mobile home with moderate smoke showing from the structure.  The fire was located in the utility room behind the clothes dryer and underneath the floor of the structure.  The fire was extinguished with minor to moderate damage to the structure.

The occupant Mrs Stacy Meredith stated they smelled smoke and found the fire coming up the wall behind the clothes dryer.  The clothes dryer was not the cause, the fire appeared to originate underneath the floor and appears to be from damaged wiring.  Damage is estimated at $5000.00.

Paris Landing responded with 4 trucks and 10 personnel, Puryear Fire Department responded for Mutual Aid with 1 truck and 5 personnel.  Two Henry County Sheriff’s officers also responded to provide traffic and crowd control.  Units were on  the scene for one hour.

While returning to the Station Paris Landing Fire Dept was dispatched to 153 Dinkins Road for a report of a grass fire.  Arriving units found a yard on fire .  The fire was extinguished with no damage.  Mr. Sam Lyles stated he was attempting to burn some limbs and the wind caused him to lose control.  Three trucks and six personnel were on the scene for 30 minutes.

Paris Landing Fire Dept would like to remind everyone to not burn during windy conditions and that burn permits are required.  Permits may be obtained by calling the TN Division of Forestry at 731-642-3808 or by visiting their website @ burnsafetn.org.
