
Dover, Tenn.–Fort Donelson NB roads and visitor services have reopened to visitor access.
It’s a beautiful winter wonderland at Fort Donelson and today provides an opportunity to see the battlefield landscape much as it appeared in February of 1862 – a region of snow and ice.
Thanks to the proactive work of the park team, both the Dover Hotel and park roads reopened to visitor access today at noon.
Ranger services / visitor orientation are offered at the Dover Hotel, 101 Petty Street, Dover, until 4:00 PM. Park roads are accessible to vehicles until 4:30 PM, with pedestrian use of the national park until dusk.
Though the team did a great job in opening up for primary access, it remains winter in the south, and extra caution is encouraged. If driving please be additionally cautious of potential slick spots and or other folks. If on foot, likewise, exercise additional caution.
No matter where you may be, enjoy the winter landscape, and do so safely.
