OC Students Triumph At Skills USA Competition

Union City, Tenn.–Obion County Schools is thrilled to recognize the exceptional accomplishments of two of its Obion County Central High School (OOCHS) students at the SkillsUSA state competition held in Chattanooga.
John Wesley Martin, a senior at OCCHS, has clinched the title of State Champion in Motorcycle Service Technology. Guided by the expertise of Mr. Anthony Miller, John Wesley showcased  proficiency and dedication in the realm of motorcycle maintenance.
Adding to the triumph, Jesus Sarmiento-Maldonaldo, a junior at OCCHS, has secured the distinguished position of state runner-up in barbering. Under the mentorship of Mrs. Tracy Jowers, Jesus demonstrated remarkable talent and skill in the art of hairstyling.
Both students competed in local and regional events to earn their spots at the state competition, where they displayed outstanding performance and determination.
Obion County Schools and OCCHS extends its heartfelt congratulations to John Wesley and Jesus, as well as their mentors, for their remarkable achievements. Their success not only highlights their individual talents but also serves as evidence of the school’s commitment to providing outstanding education and training within OCCHS’s Career Technical Education (CTE)  program.
