Paris, Tenn.–Rattlesnake Annie was in Paris Wednesday and visited with her image on one of the downtown murals.
Rattesnake was born Rosan Gallimore in Puryear and at the age of 82, is still going strong. A country music singer and songwriter, she spends much of her time touring in Europe.
Rattlesnake began recording music in 1959 and she became the first female country blues musician to tour the Eastern Bloc countries. In 1989, she became the first American country performer to sign a recording contract with Sony Music Japan.
In the early days of her career, she had a radio show and performed her music on radio station WTPR in Paris.
This was her first visit to see the mural in person and she said she was proud to be a part of it. The mural was painted by Paris Artist Dan Knowles and is one of several murals in downtown Paris that depict well-known people and places.
