Wreaths Placed At 1,717 Markers At Fort Donelson

fort-d-wreaths-23

Dover, Tenn.–Some 200 individuals of all ages participated in Saturday’s Wreaths Across America event at the Fort Donelson National Cemetery. After a program honoring veterans of all branches, the participants placed wreaths at each of the cemetery’s 1,717 stone markers. Each of the monuments on the national battlefield also received a wreath.
This is the eighth year that the Fort Donelson National Cemetery has hosted the special commemoration, in coordination with the Dover Post 71 of the American Legion.
As the purpose of the wreaths is to encourage remembrance and honor those who have served, we invite all to visit the Fort Donelson National Cemetery to pause and reflect while viewing the ornamented landscape.
The wreaths will be in place until January 16.
