Services Set For Long-Time Camden Public Servant Joey Cooper

Camden, Tenn.–Funeral services are set for a long-time Camden public servant who passed away Wednesday. Joey Cooper, age 70, died at St. Thomas Hospital West in Nashville.

Cooper was a long-time Camden Lions Club member, chairman of the Benton County School Board, volunteered with United Way and Second Harvest Food Bank, served on the board of the FYI Clinic, was a member of First Baptist Church Camden, where he was a Deacon and Sunday School teacher. With the Lions Club, he was an adult leader for the Leo Club, sight conservation program, flag route captain and pancake breakfast. He also sponsored several new members to the club.

Mr. Cooper was born on June 13, 1953 in Paris, to the late Joseph Daniel Cooper and Grace Audrey Perry Cooper. He was also preceded in death by a son, John David Cooper; brother, Gerry Cooper and father-in-law, Ralph C. Anderson. Mr. Cooper was a member of First Baptist Church Camden, TN, where he was a Deacon and Sunday School teacher.

Mother-in-law: Pat Anderson of Paris, TN

Wife: Renee Anderson Cooper of Camden, TN

Son: Joseph “JJ” Cooper of Paris, TN

Daughter: Jenny Cooper of Buchanan, TN

Grandchildren: In love, Addison Schapley & Finley Schapley

Visitation with the family will be on Saturday, December 16, 2023 from 4:00-8:00 PM at Oakdale Funeral Home and on Sunday, December 17, 2023 from 2:00-3:00 PM at First Baptist Church Camden, TN.

Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, December 17, 2023 at 3 PM at First Baptist Church Camden, TN with Bro. Jason Moore officiating. Burial will follow in the Camden City Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family request donations may be made to First Baptist Church, the Lions Club Kids Sight and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
