Union City, Tenn.–The Union City Middle School Jr. Beta Club recently welcomed 65 new members in ceremonies at the school cafeteria.
Club sponsors Jennifer Bruff, Allison Kail, and Mary Wiggins presented incoming members with certificates and pens during the initiation celebration. UCMS Principal Lance Morgan welcomed those in attendance, including parents and other family members, and provided closing comments.
Inductees Hayden and Heaven Marshall led the group in the Pledge of Allegiance, and Mrs. Wiggins directed the group in the Jr. Beta Pledge.
With the additions, the UCMS Jr. Beta Club now has 127 members in all.

The Standards of Membership are as follows:
* Students who finish their fifth-grade year with a numeric GPA of 93 (no rounding) or above (GPA of 90 or above in advanced classes), with no more than one “C” in any class, may qualify to become a member of the Beta Club.
* Students will be evaluated for eligibility at the beginning of each school year.
* Transfer students who had been National Junior Beta Club members at their previous school may be eligible for membership if they meet the qualifications after the first term.
To maintain membership, students’ nine-week cumulative GPA must be 93 or above (GPA of 90 in Honor classes) with no more than one “C” in any class.
