Paris, Tenn.–Round up those Christmas lights, trees, extension cords, and anything with wheels. It’s time for the 17th Annual Holly Jolly Electric Christmas Parade. Sponsored by the Downtown Paris Association, the parade takes place on Saturday, December 9 at 5:00 pm immediately following the Downtown Christmas Festival.
“One of the terrific things about a night parade is that it’s all about the lights. The little pesky details don’t matter, because they won’t be seen,” according to Vickey Roberts, event chairman. Roberts said that the group has been receiving entries from parade enthusiasts who will light up downtown Paris with golf carts, ATVs, small tractors, commercial vehicles, and marching units for this dazzling spectacle.”
The entry fee is $25.
Winners are recognized in the following categories: Most Christmas Spirit, Best Religious Theme, Best Decorated Vehicle, Best Decorated Float, Best Decorated Golf Cart or Small Tractor, Best Marching Unit and the coveted Clark Griswold Award for the best, knock-your Christmas-stockings-off entry.
“We’ve seen attendance grow steadily for this festive event,” Interim DPA Director Jennifer Morris said. “It’s one of the most popular events of the Christmas season and offers participants the opportunity to make treasured memories with family and friends.”
Applications and guidelines are available at the DPA office at City Hall, 100 North Caldwell; on the Downtown Paris Association Facebook page or our website at: VisitDowntownParis.com. For more information call Jennifer Morris at 731-644-4539. Entries will be accepted until Saturday morning prior to the parade.
