
Sally Ann Cadenhead Hires, 95, of Paris, Tennessee, died Sunday, December 3, 2023, at Charter Senior Living in Paris.
Sally was born Monday, February 6, 1928, in Greenville, Mississippi, to the late Charles Cadenhead and the late Mary Amanda Shoffner Cadenhead. They moved to Memphis, Tennessee in 1930, and then to Chicago, Illinois, in 1938.
She married Corie Hires Saturday, February 21, 1948, in Oak Forest, Illinois, who preceded her in death.
She graduated from Roosevelt University in 1970. She taught school in Oak Forest and Midlothian, Illinois, until her retirement in 1985, when she and Corie moved to Springville, Tennessee.
Sally and Corie participated in the Paris Square Dance Club where she served as president and secretary.
In 2004, Corie and Sally were inducted into the Tennessee State Square Dance Hall of Fame. She served as vice president and secretary of the Tennessee State Square and Round Dance Association.
She was a member of the Henry County Medical Center Auxiliary, serving as both president and secretary.
She was a member of Antioch United Methodist Church in Springville, Tennessee, where she served as board secretary and finance secretary.
She is survived by two children: Charles Orville (Mary) Hires, of Dyer, Indiana, and Mary Esther Umgelder, of Tinley Park, Illinois; one son-in-law: Jim (Sue) LaFreniere, of Cottage Grove, Tennessee; nine grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by one daughter, Sally Ann (Missy) LaFreniere; and one son-in-law, Roger Umgelder.

The body is to be cremated with a celebration of life to be held Saturday, January 6, 2024, at 12:00 p.m. at Antioch United Methodist Church.
