
Charles H. “Togie” Rushing, 79, of Paris, Tennessee, died Saturday, December 2, 2023, at his residence.
Togie was born Thursday, December 23, 1943, in Cottage Grove, Tennessee, to the late Thomas Henry Rushing and the late Lillie Ernestine Melton Rushing. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by one daughter: Rebecca Latane Rushing.
He was a lifelong farmer.
He formerly worked at Emerson Electric, and then retired after several years from the Henry County School System bus garage and maintenance department.
Togie was a member and Elder of Oak Hill Union Church in Paris.
He enjoyed fishing and hunting and hunted every opening duck season for over 50 years.
He was married Sunday, September 8, 1968, to his wife of 55 years, Theresa Collins Rushing, who survives, of Paris, Tennessee.
Along with his wife, he is also survived by one daughter: Emily (Wayne) Fuqua, of Cottage Grove, Tennessee; two sisters: Patsy (Gerald) Howard, of Paris, Tennessee, and Helen Wilson, of Paris, Tennessee; one brother: Thomas (Vicky) Rushing, of Cottage Grove, Tennessee; two grandchildren: Micah Fuqua, and Lillie (Johnathon) Bruner; two great-grandchildren: William Bruner and Alexander Bruner; and several nieces and nephews.
Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap Street/PO Box 788, Paris, Tennessee, 38242.
Visitation will be Wednesday, December 6, 2023, from 12:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. at Oak Hill Union Church, 5725 Highway 69 N, Paris, Tennessee, 38242, with the funeral service beginning at 3:00 p.m. at Oak Hill Union Church with Bro. Fran Howe officiating.
Named as honorary pallbearers are: Micah Fuqua, Wayne Fuqua, Thomas Rushing, Gerald Howard, Ernie Veglio, Ricky McLin, Tony Nance, and Randall Bowden.
Cremation will follow the service.
