Union City, Tenn.–With one week away from the Union City Christmas Parade, Main Street Union City officials have announced that Dr. M.A. (Pete) Blanton will be parade Grand Marshal.
Dr. Blanton was born in Union City to Mrs. Katherine and Dr. M.A. Blanton Jr. on July 9, 1941. He graduated The University of Tennessee Class of ’66 and completed his residency at Campbell Clinic, Memphis, TN in 1968. Dr. Blanton went on to serve eight years in the United States Navy before returning home in 1974 with his wife Vicki Freeman Blanton and two children, Allyn Blanton-Hooks and Sean Blanton, to take over his late father’s medical practice.
Dr. Blanton is the third generation in the Blanton family to serve Obion County and the surrounding areas as a trusted medical professional. Main Street officials, “To show our appreciation for he and his family’s dedication to our area, we are proud to name Dr. Blanton the 2023 Obion County Christmas Parade Honorary Grand Marshal.”
