Dresden, Tenn.–Six students who attend schools in Dresden are home after getting off a school bus at the wrong locations Wednesday afternoon.

Director of Schools Jeff Cupples said, “We are grateful for our school officials, the Dresden Police Department, Weakley County Sheriff’s Department, and Dresden K-8 School Resource Officer Tara Beauchamp for their quick action in communications and logistics.”

The investigation will continue today and will include a thorough review of video surveillance footage from the bus.

School officials worked in partnership with law enforcement to account for each student’s safety and presence at home.

Director Cupples continued, “We have a hard-working transportation team, and we will be working with each of them to ensure comprehensive, ongoing training for substitutes and staff. Parents, please partner with us. Familiarize your child with their neighborhood and talk with them about the importance of staying on the bus until it reaches home. Review the safety protocols and policies outlined in the student handbook with your child.”
