James D. Collier

James D. Collier, 96, of Michigan, formerly of Paris, passed away in Michigan.

His funeral service will be graveside at 1:00 PM, Thursday, November 30, 2023, at Craig-Farmer Cemetery in Springville, TN. There will be no visitation before the graveside service.

James D. Collier was born June 7, 1927, in Detroit, MI to the late Phy Collier and the late Viola “Ola” Akers Collier.

On January 29, 1946, he married Geneva “Jennie” McSwain Collier and she preceded him in death on September 28, 2020.

James was a hard-working family man. He loved serving as a pastor and minister for the Lord. He loved discussing the Bible and life in general with all who would listen. He was a Veteran and very proud to serve our country.

James is at peace with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and with his wife, Jennie of 74 years & 8 months. (He always added the 8 months!)

Mr. Collier is survived by two daughters: Betty (Kenn) Bernstein of Whitelake, MI, and Bobbi Burke of Westland, MI; and one son, Kenneth (Cindy) Collier of Ingram, TX; one sister, Jean Fry of Camden, TN; and grandchildren, great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends.

Besides his parents and wife, James was also preceded in death by three sisters: Juanita Stocdale, Dorothy Hixson, and Rebecca Venell Meredith; and two brothers: Willie Odell Collier and Richard “Sonny” Collier.
