
Paris, Tenn.–The Henry County Sheriff’s Office, in collaboration with the Henry County Carl Perkins Center, 24th Judicial District Attorney’s Office, Federal Bureau of Investigation Memphis Division Child Exploitation Task Force, Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, is inviting parents to a public safety ‘Socially Safe’ event at the Henry County Fairgrounds on December 14.
Sheriff Josh Frey said, “This is a program that is being launched for our community, for our kids and our parents. We hope to educate parents and kids on how to be socially safe while online.”
The event will be hosted by the Henry County Sheriff’s Office and presented by the Henry Co. Sheriffs Office Criminal Investigation Division, along with Carl Perkins Center, FBI, former victims of online extortion, TBI, 24th District Attorney General’s Office, etc.
Frey said, “The focus is making our parents and kids aware of predators and those who are seeking to sextort them online. Topics will cover: Snap Chat, Facebook, Instagram and other social media platforms and how to navigate those sites safely. For parents, we will show you hidden dangers and how you can make plans to better monitor their online activity.”
There is a huge surge in Henry County at this time with sexual exploitation involving minors, which puts our kids at a greater risk of contact by online predators attempting to gain photos or videos of our children, Frey said, “We can, together, help slow down this scourge from our community.”
