Union City, Tenn.–The Union City Police Department has issued the following statement:

Along with each of you the Union City Police Department and the City
of Union City is working with the recommendations of our Federal and
State officials including the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
and Tennessee Department of Health on preventative measures of
spreading infection.

To be clear, there are no confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Obion County.

Out of an abundance of caution the Union City Police Department will
be implementing the following:

Effective immediately, the Union City Police Department will be limiting
face to face contact with the general public. We will be on patrol
looking out for our citizens. We will still be here to give service to all
calls. The calls will be set on a priority basis. Low to medium priority
calls will be handled by officers over the phone. If there is a need for
evidence to be collected or observed arraignments will be made with
the caller. On high priority calls, officers will respond and utilize all
universal precautions for personal protection. We will also continue to
monitor our response for crash reporting. These special circumstances
will remain in effect until further notice.”
