Paris, Tenn.—A Paris man reportedly pretended to be his own brother to avoid arrest Monday.

Phillip M. Hutcherson, age 26, 3703 Hwy. 79, was charged by Paris Police on drug charges and on a fugitive from justice warrant.

According to the police report, Paris Patrolman Brandon Steele stopped Hutcherson’s car on Patriot Avenue and the driver said his name was Davonta Hutcherson and that he had no identification on him. He also said he was stopping at the Patriot Avenue home to see his girlfriend.

In response to questions, the person at the home said the girlfriend did not live there and he did not know Hutcherson.

According to Steele, he smelled the odor of marijuana on Hutcherson and Hutcherson told him there were two small bags of marijuana in his pockets. After more discussion, Hutcherson admitted he was Phillip Hutcherson.

His bond is $2,500.
