bpu-february-board-meeting

Paris, Tenn.–At the short and regular meeting of the Paris Board of Public Utilities Board of Directors, the Board approved a work authorization with Allen & Hoshall to design and bid a make ready project for a proposed Comcast route across the electric system.

Comcast is installing fiber optic infrastructure from Paducah to Waverly and will attach to BPU poles across the BPU electric system from the north to the south.

BPU General Manager, Terry Wimberley explained that, “’Make ready’ work will need to be done on our system to accommodate the Comcast facilities.  The work will include changing out poles to taller poles, adding guy wires, etc. “

The approval of the work authorization included a not to exceed amount of $58,000.  Comcast will fully reimburse BPU for all costs included in design and bid work performed by Allen & Hoshall.

During other business, Wimberley discussed his trip to Washington, D.C. earlier in the week to meet with members of Congress to discuss Public Power and the value of Public Power to our customers and our community.

In general business, the board approved the minutes from the last regular meeting on January 23 and reviewed the utility’s monthly financial and statistical reports.

The March meeting of the Board will take place on Tuesday, March 31, 2020.
