Paris, Tenn.- E.W.Grove School held their 12th Annual Heart Day today(Thursday, Feb. 27th) with volunteers from all over Henry County including students from Henry County High School who are studying for their CNA’s. The school also welcomed volunteers in the form of parents generously donating their time to teach the students of Grove, as well as volunteers from Henry County Medical Center, Henry County Sheriff’s Department and many more. Grove has around 370 students and after today they should all be CPR certified after taking these sessions led by approximately 20 HCMC, Air Evac, and HCHS volunteers. There were eight rooms specifically for the CPR training so all students would get the opportunity to be certified. There were also sessions on the Choices with Vaping, Drugs, and Alcohol presented by Sgt. Powell of the HCSO and Lt. Frey of the Paris Police Department, Teen Pregnancy, STD’s, and Abstinence by Nationally known speaker Lucas Hurd, Heart Related Emergencies and Distracted Driving by Mark Thorn of the Air Evac and Jackie Wyatt, Social Media and Anti-Bullying by Eric Johnson Stars Nashville Vice-President of Youth Development, and Heart Exercise by Karate Master Dinh of Paris. Mark Thorn and Jackie Wyatt led the students out to study the Air Evac Helicopter after their discussion. Master Dinh showed the students basic self-defense and how heart health is very important in all activities. Master Dinh also presented all the students with a red t-shirt with the words Heart, Head, Hand, Energy signifying Mind, emotions, actions, and spirit. All sessions were very informative for the students and they all seemed to have a fun time.
